I had heard a lot of things about EDUC-455 before I began the class, but the one thing that really stuck with me was the Xtranormal project. I had seen student examples of these videos before, and they honestly creeped me out. So, when you told us that the company went out of business, I was actually pretty excited because I really didn't want to have to work with some video software that popped out eerie sounding characters with large heads. But then you pointed us in the direction of GoAnimate...Once again, I was not thrilled. However, I will admit that I really enjoyed using the program to create my video!
First of all, I like that you are able to create your own character. That made me more engaged in the program because I was actually able to make a character that looked like me instead of having to be represented by some stock character. It was also easy to input the text, make the characters move, and insert music and effects. The only major thing I don't like about the program is that you have to create another scene in order for different characters to speak. I wish the company would include a feature where you could keep adding dialogue to a scene with staggered time delays.
Overall, I think that the GoAnimate program is a great tool for the classroom. It allows teachers to present information in creative ways that will really engage students. It would be great if I could convince my school to purchase memberships for teachers in the future because it is a tool that can be used with any content area.
